Martha A. Arouni, M.D. Brenda Vander-Tuig, APRN
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. I am a native of St. Paul, Minnesota, and moved to Omaha to attend Creighton University, where I received my Bachelors and Medical Degrees. I then completed my residency in Internal Medicine at Creighton University, where I was chosen as Chief Resident. Next, I did my Gastroenterology and Liver Disease Fellowship at the University of Nebraska Medical Center which, at the time, was the second-largest liver transplant center in the world. I maintain current certifications in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology.

Initially I was involved in serveral research projects, and I published articles and abstracts and did presentations, both nationally and internationally, related to the field of Gastroenterology. Subsequent to this, I have been engaged in private practice and am the founding member and managing partner of Omaha Gastroenterology Consultants, P.C. My special area of interest in Gastroenterology is colon cancer screening and surveillance.

My professional memberships include the American Gastroenterological Association, the American College of Gastroenterology, and the American Society of Gastroenterological Endoscopy. I was recently promoted, via the nomination of my colleagues, to Fellowship in the American Gastroenterological Association as one of the first group of Fellows ever named. I am also a member of the Nebraska Medical Association and the Metro Omaha Medical Society.

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. I was born and raised in Sioux City, IA. I received my Bachelors Degree in Nursing from Morningside College. I relocated to Lubbock,TX for several years and then moved to the Denver area. My work experience is varied having worked in the hospital setting, as well as home care, clinic, and skilled nursing.

Afer many years away from extended family, i decided to return to the Midwest. I relocated to Omaha where I began working in the GI Lab at Bergan Mercy Hosptial. I was recruited to join a private Gastroenterology practice as a nurse specialist where my knowledge and expertise grew. As my children became more self-sufficient, I decided the time was right to return to pursue my Masters Degree. I graduated with honors from Clarkson College as a Family Nurse Practitioner in 2011. I have continued my gastroenterology focus at Omaha Gastroenterology Consultants alongside Dr. Martha Arouni.

My husband, Steve and I have six children, ranging in age from 13 to 30 years of age. We have six grandchildren (so far) who are the delight of our lives. We are active in our church and enjoy spending time with family and friends.

My professional memberships include the American College of Gastroenterology, the Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates, the American Nurses Association, and Sigma Theta Tau International Nurses Honor Society. I have a personal interest in the promotion of colon cancer screening and surveillance as my mother was a victim of colon cancer at a young age.

Thank you for allowing me to be part of your health care team.
